2 storytelling festivals at the same time!

Recieved from Pamela Gaunt 24 3 07 -she requested that it is circulated -I've emailed those on my data base but this isn't a complete picture of Welsh based storytellers

Please could you distribute this to 'the circuit' for discussion.....I think its very important!

What a pity that the St Donats festival is dated for the same weekend as we have been advertising the Heart of the Dragon Festival in Newcastle Emlyn...for the past year.
A pity because, as a resident storyteller in Wales I wont be able to come and see or participate in St Donats, and a pity that interested storytellers and listeners (who may have wanted to come and see how the Last Dragon Killed In Wales is being told, and moved on in its next bilingual rebirth and redemption chapter, locally by the Welsh and incoming community... as well as nationally and internationally in Poland, Dublin, Prague and Portugal) will have two different storytelling festivals going on in Wales at the same time!.
One response is, oh well...the more the merrier...
Another is that small market towns in rural West Wales working within their own community with a really important national Welsh story isnt being taken very seriously or very importantly by the wider Welsh storytelling community?
Maybe this highlights the need for us to be a bit more  in communication with each other in planning to get local, national and international storytelling vibrant in Wales and work sensibly together and in cooperation on that.
I am aware that living out here and with young children I cant get to most of the Cardiff based meetings and performances, so may not be very visible in that circuit...but we do exist and are doing things way out Beyond the Border!! Any suggestions of how to redeem things  for the July 7/8th weekend or else next year??

Best wishes Pamela Gaunt
PS We just got back from taking the Dragons Egg to Dublin....and will be taking the ever growing, ever incubating Magical Giant Dragons Egg (found on a coracle on the river at our castle last midsummer) to Krakow in June and, we hope the new Baby Dragon of Wales (due to be born at our festival) to Prague in September. Perhaps you guys in Cardiff and St Donats might like to invite us or else come and see this phenomenon....a rebirthed mythology from one of war and oppression to one of restoration and global connection?  Let me know .
